Overview

The Getac ZX10G2 tablet requires a minimum battery charge level to successfully initiate the boot process. This article explains the boot requirements based on the Embedded Controller Unit firmware version installed on the device. Understanding these power thresholds helps resolve situations where the device appears unresponsive or fails to power on.

Symptoms

  • The Getac ZX10G2 tablet fails to boot or power on.
  • The device does not boot when connected to an external power source if no battery is installed.
  • The tablet remains unresponsive when attempting to power on with low-capacity batteries.

Possible Causes

  • The installed batteries do not meet the minimum charge threshold required by the specific Embedded Controller Unit firmware version.
  • An attempt is being made to boot the device without any batteries installed.
  • The combined or individual battery capacity has depleted below the safety boot limit.

Diagnostic Steps

  1. Verify if there is at least one battery physically installed in the Getac ZX10G2, as the device does not support batteryless boot.
  2. Check the current Embedded Controller Unit firmware version of the device if possible.
  3. Determine if the firmware is an older version (before 1.0.2.9.36) or a newer version (1.0.2.11.36 or later).
  4. Measure or estimate the charge level of each installed battery pack.
  5. For devices with firmware versions older than 1.0.2.9.36, check if both installed battery packs are individually charged above 5 percent.
  6. For devices with firmware versions 1.0.2.11.36 or later, check if the combined capacity of both installed batteries is greater than 5 percent.

Resolution Steps

  1. Insert at least one compatible battery pack into the Getac ZX10G2 tablet.
  2. Connect the tablet to an authorized external power charger.
  3. Allow the battery packs to charge to the required threshold based on the firmware version:
    - For firmware versions before 1.0.2.9.36, charge both installed battery packs until each individual pack exceeds 5 percent capacity.
    - For firmware versions 1.0.2.11.36 and later, charge the batteries until the sum of both battery capacities is greater than 5 percent.
  4. Press the power button to boot the device once the required charge threshold is reached.

Notes/Important Information

  • The Getac ZX10G2 does not support batteryless boot mode; at least one battery with sufficient charge must be present to power on the system.
  • To boot the device with a single battery installed, that single battery must have a charge level of over 5 percent.
  • Ensure genuine Getac chargers and batteries are used to prevent charging issues or power delivery failures.
