Q: How do I properly hotswap batteries in our F110 Tablet?

  1. Push the two tabs on the left and right of the rear battery cover to the "unlocked" position.
  2. Push the center tab on the rear battery cover to the "unlocked" position.
  3. Gently pull up the battery cover from the side where all the tabs are located until it is raised no more than 1 inch, then pull the cover parallel to the unit away from the side that is still attached to remove the cover.
  4. Remove 1 of the batteries by pulling up on the clear plastic tab firmly. (! Important do NOT remove both batteries at the same time while the unit is running. This will result in an unsafe shutdown and may result in data loss.)
  5. Replace the removed battery with a fully charged spare.
  6. Remove the other low voltage battery. (If charge status is forgotten the grey and white power button on the battery may be pressed that will illuminate up to 5 lights to indicate current charge.)
  7. Replace the removed battery with the other spare.
  8. Return the back cover to its position by sliding in back in place and pressing firmly on the four 'dimples' until you hear a snap.
  9. Push the center tab back to the "locked" position.
  10. Push the left and right tabs back to the "locked" position.
  11. Resume Standard operations.

Notes:

  1. It is important that the battery replacements are done before the units reach about 10% capacity each to avoid accidental shutdowns.
  2. When replacing the batteries it is best to replace the lower voltage one first. Though this is sometimes hard to tell and is not always necessary as long as the remaining battery in the unit has enough charge to keep the unit running.
  3. The batteries in Getac units discharge simultaneously to prevent over voltage or voltage jumps and it is important to make sure that when replacing the batteries during runtime that the replacements are within 8% charge of each other to help lengthen the batteries lifetime.
