Q: We have changed the COM Port of our GPS to a different COM Port as our software requires it. How do we make sure the GPS hotfix is applied to make the mouse not jump everywhere? (COM Port Changed to COM7 from COM 2 in this example)

A: If the GPS COM Port was moved to COM 7 please follow these steps to apply the hotfix:

  1. Open the COM2_Hotfix.reg file in notepad
  2. You will see the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0501\2\Device Parameters]
  3. Change the 2 above before Device Parameters to 7 like below
  4. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0501\7\Device Parameters]
  5. Save the file as COM7_Hotfix.reg
  6. Run the COM7_hotfix.reg file
  7. Reset your computer
  8. It should now apply to COM 7 which you can verify if you open regedit to check that everything was applied.
