TPM 1.2 to 2.0

Q: My TPM was version 2.0 and had downgraded it to 1.2. How do I revert it back to TPM 2.0?

 

A: Please follow the following steps:

Execute Procedure 1, then 2, then 3

Procedure 1 (Clear Owner state):

  1. Disable Bitlocker on unit
  2. Reset unit and enter into BIOS
  3. Go to the Security Tab
  4. Enter TPM setup menu
  5. Change "Change TPM Status" from No change to Clear
  6. Change Intel Trusted Execution Technology from Enabled to Disabled (If available, skip if not present)
  7. Save and exit BIOS
  8. Enter Into BIOS again
  9. Go to the Security tab
  10. Enter TPM setup menu
  11. Change "Change TPM Status" from No change to enabled and activated
  12. Save and Exit BIOS

Procedure 2 (Update TPM firmware):

  1. Visit our Getac Driver Page https://support.getac.com/Portal/Page/763
  2. Put in your serial number and click submit
  3. Find the TPM 1.2 to 2.0 file and click download
  4. Insert a UEFI Bootable USB Stick
  5. Unzip files downloaded and place on the USB Stick
  6. Reset and UEFI boot from the USB TPM firmware update disk
  7. Execute update.nsh
  8. Wait for the TPM firmware update to finish
  9. Press and hold power button to power off system

Procedure 3 (Execute TPM Provision):

  1. Turn the unit back on and enter into BIOS
  2. Go to the Security Tab
  3. Enter TPM setup menu
  4. Change TPM support from Enabled to Disabled
  5. Save and exit BIOS
  6. UEFI boot from USB TPM firmware update disk
  7. Type cd TPM20PROV
  8. Press Enter
  9. Type tpmprov
  10. Press Enter
  11. Wait for TPM provisioning to finish
  12. Once complete press and power button to power off system
  13. Power on the system
  14. Enter into BIOS
  15. Go to the Security page
  16. Enter TPM setup menu
  17. Change TPM support from disabled to enabled
  18. Exit and Save Changes
