Issue: Rear analog camera has a blue screen

Cause: Configuration and wiring do not match, camera is not getting 12 volts, the A/V connection is loose, or a broken physical component

Physical components that can cause this issue:

  • Spider cable
  • Power cable
  • Molex connector
  • DVR
  • Camera

Troubleshooting:

 Verify Configuration

  • Under Unit Configuration, click on Devices

  • Find the video device for your rear camera - usually named Back Seat, but this can be different per department
    • In the example above, I have named my camera Analog
  • The device should be configured with Video FC(number)
    • The number next to Video FC(number) tells you which physical cable you need to be connected to on the spider cable. The spider cable is labeled.
    • In the configuration above, you see that it is Video FC1 so in the picture below, I am connected to Video 1 and Audio 1

  • If the physical connections do not match the configuration, please correct

    Reseat AV Cable

  • If the AV cables were connected correctly, please reseat both cables to verify that connection is good
  • There is a small chance that the audio and video cables got flip flopped when installed with an extension cable
    • Swap the audio and video cables around
      • If issue is not resolved, swap them back to how they were originally
  • If issue is still present, reseat the cable connected to the DVR

    Verify Power

  • The most common cause of this problem is that the power cables were either installed incorrectly or became dislodged
  • The power cable has two cables that connects to the dvr through a molex connector on one end and barrel cable on the other
    • Power – Black cable (New cables will have a white sheath at the end of the cable)
    • Ground – Black cable with a faint white stripe
      Old Power Cable

      New Cable
  • Ground should be plugged into A1 and power should be plugged into A2
  • Measure power output with a multimeter
    • Disconnect the power cable from the camera
    • Place the positive lead in the cable and have the negative lead on the outside of the cable
    • You should have 1 of 3 results
      • You should get 12v if it is wired correctly
      • If you are getting -12v, the cables need to be reversed on the dvr
      • If you are not getting any voltage
        • Remove the cables from the molex connector
        • Measure A2 on the molex connector
          • If there is 12v, reinstall cable and test again
            • Replace power cable if no voltage
          • If there is no voltage, remove connector and measure directly from the dvr at A2
            • If there is 12v, reinstall the connector and test for voltage
              • If there still is no voltage, replace molex connector
            • If there is no voltage, replace dvr

Verify Components

  • If you completed the above troubleshooting and the issue still remains, then the cause of the problem will either be the camera, spider cable or dvr
  • Depending on what is easier for you, swap either the spider cable or camera with a known good component from another vehicle/bench stock
  • If neither the cable or camera fixes the issue, please let support know and we will replace the dvr
